Folkloresociety ÜKSMÜTS is a folk music group founded on the basis of NGO Cultural and Educational Society Üksmüts. We started in March 2016 when we organized the Järvamaa Traditional Celebration “Suvisted Veteperes”, which was also the premiere of Baltica this year. Since then, we have been engaged in promoting and presenting local heritage.
We sing old folk songs (regilaul), we play ringgames, dance and play whistle. Although we are not professional folk musicians, we are still looking for a good repertoire of local tradition.
The main part of our repertoire is stories and songs from Central Estonia. We represent Järva-Madise parish, but our repertoire also includes folklore stories from Järva-Jaani and Ambla parishes. Sometimes we try to present the stories in as pure form as possible, sometimes we prefer ourselves, we also have some so-called new folk stories and dances.
And we're not just singing and dancing, we're still trying to pass the tiny. If others do not come along with the song line, ring games and dances still attract people.
Our company includes dozens of singers, six playmates, five karmo players, ten dancers, plus children and youngsters who often accompany us.
2019
The folklore group ÜKSMÜTS 2019's traditional program is titled "Go to Swing", which is included in the themes of the International Folklore Festival Baltica 2019, which is a local specialty, celebration and language. The old folk songs from Järva-Madise parish and the old folk songs from Järva-Jaani have been used, the whole plan is based only on the old tradition of Järva County. In the textual part, the local Järva dialect is used. The plan includes the Simmeldajad (Simmitters), the Krompkapunt (Chromium Camp), the Meie Laste Pillituba (Meite's Children's Lounge) and the Vargamäe Lapse (children of Vargamäe).
The entire plan is 50 minutes long. Invite us to perform.
